Racing through the Surrey countryside

BIKEJPG The Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100 on Sunday 4th August saw 20,000 amateur cyclists pedalling a gruelling 100 miles through London and beautiful Surrey countryside. Some hardy souls were in the saddle for over eight hours. But the thrill of cycling along closed roads, through picturesque Surrey towns and finally up The Mall in London was surely worth effort.

We picked this spot near Kingston to watch 150 professional cyclists whizz past us on a slightly extended route. The sight and sound as they raced past us reminded me of Derby Day at Epsom Race Course.

If you fancy taking part in the 2014 Prudential RideLondon-Surrey 100, the public ballot entry system is now open. I'll hopefully see you somewhere along the route!
